223 SVHCs on the EU REACH CANDIDATE LIST

REACH SVHC chemicals

Austria, Belgium, and Denmark have recommended a total of four (4) additional substances of very high concern (SVHCs) to the REACH Candidate List of chemicals for their possible insertion into the Authorisation List. Here they are:

Substance NameCAS # (Chemical Abstracts Service)
Where used (examples)
(±)-1,7,7-trimethyl-3-[(4-methylphenyl)methylene]bicyclo[2.2.1]heptan-2-one covering any of the individual isomers and/or combinations thereof (4-MBC)

4-MBC serves as a UV filter in cosmetics and personal care products – in fragrances, body care products.
